Samsung brings outdoor TV to The Terrace
The new Samsung Terrace is a QLED 4K outdoor TV designed to get you out of the house – great timing with the weather getting warmer and the prospect of continued restrictions on going out due to the coronavirus pandemic.
So, what makes it an outdoor TV? First, it has an extra-bright display for viewing on sunny days. Second, it features Samsung’s Anti-Glare Technology which helps stop reflections and glare.
And third, The Terrace QLED 4K television is also water- and dust-resistant, though Samsung recommends installation undercover, protected from direct sunlight and severe weather such as heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The Terrace outdoor TV – which comes in 55, 65 and 75-inch sizes – also has a durable design and comes with a dust cover and a weather-resistant remote control. You’ll also find a wall mount included in the box.
It’s a 4K television, which means it has about four times the resolution of the Full HD 1080p models you’ll see on the shelves. It also means it has about four times less than the newest 8K models.
This television can be connected to the internet for streaming content via apps like Netflix, YouTube, Foxtel, Kayo and Disney+. It also comes with some decent features for wireless connection and control from Android and Apple devices, and voice control via Amazon’s Alexa or Samsung’s own Bixby.
Samsung has also announced the release of a matching weatherproof speaker system, The Terrace Soundbar, which can be mounted to a wall, or directly to The Terrace TV.
It’s a 3.0-channel system with seven speakers, including a dedicated centre speaker for improved clarity in outdoor environments with higher levels of ambient noise. Total power output is 210W.
The soundbar’s volume and sound modes (Standard, Adaptive or Surround Sound Expansion) can be controlled by the TV’s remote or by voice.
Also on board is Distortion Cancelling technology which predicts and cancels distortion before it happens, for deeper and more detailed bass.
