New Philips projectors for home and on-the-road bingeing

Philips has brought out two new projectors – the NeoPix ULTRA2TV for home use, and the portable PicoPix MICRO2TV for on-the-go gaming and video watching.

Both models feature W-Fi connectivity, Android TV and Google ChromeCast, so you can set them up anywhere and use voice commands to stream content via your favourite services, like Netflix, Disney+ and Binge, play Android TV games like Final Fantasy, NBA Jam and Crossy Road, and cast entertainment and apps directly from your smartphone, tablet or laptop.

This new projector is the brightest model in the NeoPIx family – Philips says it uses a “sealed LED engine, built to deliver 75 per cent more brightness, focus and accurate colours”.

It has a Full HD 1080p resolution, built-in stereo speakers and Keystone 4 corner and digital zoom correction. The latter means you can place the projector anywhere and pretty much eliminate crooked and distorted images – to the equivalent of a 100-inch display – even if it’s not placed directly in front of a wall or screen. This would be great for, say, pop-up movie nights by the pool in summer.

With a small body weighing just 625 grams, a battery and built-in stereo speakers, the Philips PicoPix MICRO2TV projector (pictured above) is made to be taken anywhere.

It has a resolution of 480p and can project a picture up to the equivalent of an 80-inch display. The battery has a 12,000mAh capacity, which Philips says will deliver up to five hours of play time.

Besides Wi-Fi connectivity, the projector has USB-C and HDMI ports for content sharing.
