ECOVACS debuts design-forward DEEBOT X1 PLUS robot vacuum
As more Australians than ever are looking to buy a robot vacuum cleaner, leading brand ECOVACS has expanded its premium range with the DEEBOT X1 PLUS, created in collaboration with Denmark’s Jacob Jensen Design.
The design house was created by industrial designer Jacob Jensen, best known for his minimalist work with Bang & Olufsen, and the pedigree shows in the DEEBOT X1 PLUS. The classic silver and black vacuum cleaner has a compact footprint and uses metal decorative plates and other premium materials.
On the feature side, it has suction power of 5000Pa – the strongest in the company’s range – for vacuuming both carpets and hard floors. This is complemented by the OZMO Pro 3.0 oscillating mopping System.
For mapping and obstacle detection, the vacuum cleaner uses ECOVACS’ TrueMapping 2.0 and AIVI 3D technology, which the company says “significantly improves the robot’s perception of the environment using laser and visual sensing technologies for best-in-class obstacle avoidance”.
Like others in the range, this model returns to an Auto-Empty Station after each clean, which recharges it and, in 10 seconds, empties the dust into a 3.2-litre disposable dust bag. ECOVACS data shows that each bag should last about a month in an average-sized home.
It can even be voice-controlled by ECOVACS’ YIKO AI Voice Assistant. This means you can give it commands like “OK YIKO, start quick mapping”, “Come towards my voice”, “Vacuum under the sofa”, and “Clean the bedroom”.
Robot vacuum cleaners proving popular
ECOVACS’ own market research has shown that 62 per cent of the Australians surveyed would like to own a robotic vacuum cleaner in the near future.
The same research showed that 54 per cent of those surveyed take “significant” notice of design and overall appearance when choosing an appliance, and 79 per cent see the quality of materials as the first consideration. And half said that they won’t display a piece of technology if it doesn’t look good in their home.
“Since launching the first two models of the DEEBOT X1 Family that were a collaboration with Jacob Jensen Design, we have been overwhelmed with the response locally, and are delighted to be adding the DEEBOT X1 PLUS into the mix,” says ECOVACS ROBOTICS’ head of Australia and New Zealand, Karen Powell.
“This is particularly exciting as our latest market research shows that 59 per cent of surveyed Australians have a strong interest in interior design trends. Almost two-thirds of those surveyed would like to own a robot vacuum in the future
“We truly believe the DEEBOT X1 PLUS will be the most beautiful robot vacuum in the market, something that can rightfully take pride of place in your home while delivering an unprecedented hands-free clean.”
Kim Michel, the Global Design Director and General Manager of Jacob Jensen Design, says, “Through extensive research and our design process we were able to create a product that is both elegant and efficient. Every detail has been so carefully considered and re-worked over and over again. All of this effort is part of our own process, in our own pursuit of perfection.”
