CLOT x Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 speaker bridges East and West
Fans of CLOT – the streetwear brand out of Hong Kong that aims to build a bridge between East and West – will be happy to hear that they have a new collaboration with Bang & Olufsen in the form of the CLOT x Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 speaker.
The two brands say the project was inspired by their shared passion for modern craftsmanship and premium materials, and “celebrates the vitality of life, music and Chinese culture”.
The aluminium grill of the limited-edition portable speaker has been tinted in a bright metallic red, which holds significance in traditional Chinese culture. CLOT founder and creative director Edison Chen says it’s also based on the life force of blood.
“The rhythm of a heartbeat is like music – it’s everyone’s beat, everyone’s being,” he says. “Our heart pumps blood, and our blood runs our system. It’s like the making of music and the making of art, which is actually human nature. Being able to work with Bang & Olufsen and start a journey on product creation has been fun. This is the first step and hopefully we will have a lot more products to come.”
The CLOT logo is printed onto the speaker grill, while the black leather strap has a black anthracite aluminium tag with the Bang & Olufsen laser-etched on one side and CLOT’s logo on the other.
The Cecilie Manz-designed Beosound A1 speaker has an omnidirectional sound with rich bass that will play for up to 18 hours. Fully dust and waterproof, it can also act as a speakerphone via Bluetooth and three internal microphones. A Multipoint feature lets two devices connect and control the tunes.
The audio comes courtesy of a 3.5-inch woofer and a 3/5-inch tweeter driven by a 2x30W Class D amplifier. Equaliser presets and customisation tools are available through the Bang & Olufsen App.
