The torch that can jump-start your car

This incredibly handy gadget is a torch or flashlight that can jump-start your car – or a jump-starter with a built-in torch. Either way, we want one.

The mophie Powerstation Go Rugged Flashlight is one of a new range of portable power accessories from ZAGG’s mophie brand.

It looks like a standard torch but has a built-in 9900mAh battery and few great features for motorists and campers. First of these is its 12V/400A jumper cable output – enough to start a full-sized vehicle. The mini, spark-proof jumper cables are included.

Second is a bright LED work light that’s great for everything from changing a tyre in the dark or lighting a tent. It also has an SOS feature and a high-visibility red light for emergencies.

Thirdly, there are two 5V/2.4A USB-A ports that let you charge your phone, tablet and other devices.

It measures 265×72.5x58mm and weighs 522g.

Joining the flashlight in the lineup is the Powerstation Go Rugged Compact, a unit that looks like a regular hand-sized battery pack. Its 8100mAh battery can charge two USB devices at the same time and is also a jump-starter for your vehicle. It also has a ‘floodlight’ function that mophie says can light up a room during a blackout.

Last on the list is the Powerstation Go Rugged with Air Compressor, which does everything the Compact model does but adds an air compressor with interchangeable nozzles to pump up car tyres, air mattresses, footies and the like. Impressive.
