New Tivoli Audio Model One+ radio is faithful to the original
Tivoli Audio has brought out a new Model One radio – dubbed the Model One+ – which updates its features and functionality while staying faithful to the retro design and feel of the original model that launched the company’s fortunes in 2000.
The new Tivoli Audio Model One+ is a DAB+ (digital) radio that can also play FM stations, stream audio wirelessly from a smartphone, tablet or computer via Bluetooth and attach to an external source via a wired Aux input.
Looking at the design, it’s very similar to the original model designed by audio guru Henry Kloss. The main difference is the speaker placement – it’s been relocated to the top of the unit, relinquishing its place on the fascia to a round LED screen.
The control dial is no longer used for finding analogue frequencies, but the two smaller knobs are still used for volume and power/source selection. There is now also one button for scanning and five for presets.
There’s a remote control for accessing the functions not covered by the knobs, including alarm and display settings for the LED screen.
The Model One+ measures 12cm x 21.2cm x 15cm. It’s available in a classic walnut/beige theme and two new designs: grey/white and oak/black.
